성막은 인간이 아닌 하나님의 생각으로 만들어졌습니다. 만약 성막이 이스라엘의 필요에 의해 고안되고 만들어졌다면 외형적인 모습과 구조는 물론이고 성막을 만든 목적과 이유도 하나님의 성막과는 전혀 달랐을 것입니다. 이방 종교가 신전을 만들어 거기에 자기의 신을 모시고 섬기면서 복과 형통을 구하는 것과 전혀 다를 바 없는 성전이 탄생 될 뿐입니다. 결국 하나님이 나서서 믿음의 길로 인도하시지 않으면 누구도 참된 믿음의 길로 갈 수 없다는 것이 인간의 무능과 한계로 자리하는 것입니다.
하나님이 성막을 만들라고 명하신 것도 이러한 인간 됨과 무관하지 않습니다. 인간이 하나님의 뜻을 이해하고 자발적으로 하나님이 원하시는 백성으로 변할 가능성이 없기 때문에 하나님이 직접 하나님이 원하시는 인간으로 새롭게 만드시고 그들과 함께하시며 동행하시겠다는 취지로 만들라고 하신 것이 성막입니다.
하나님이 인간에게 함께 하신다면 그 인간은 거룩한 자라는 뜻이 됩니다. 거룩하지 않고는 거룩하신 하나님과 함께할 수 없기 때문입니다. 그래서 성막은 인간의 거룩을 위해 만들어졌다고 할 수 있습니다. 죄로 인해 더러운 자이기에 하나님께 나올 수 없고 하나님이 함께할 수 없는 인간을 성막에서 죄없이 죽음의 길로 가는 희생 제물의 피로 거룩하게 하시고 그들에게 함께 하시겠다는 것입니다.
성막은“여호와께서 모세에게 명령하신 대로 이스라엘 자손이 모든 역사를 마치매 모세가 그 마친 모든 것을 본즉 여호와께서 명령하신 대로 되었으므로 모세가 그들에게 축복하였더라”(42,43절)라고 말하는 것처럼 여호와께서 명령하신 대로 완성되었습니다.
여호와의 명령에 대해 주의할 것은 명령을 단순히 지시하셨다는 의미로 받아들이지 않는 것입니다. 하나님이 ‘이렇게 하라’고 명령하셨고 그 명령을 받은 인간은 명령대로 따르면 된다는 식으로 이해하지 않아야 한다는 것입니다. 왜냐하면 여호와의 명령에는 하나님의 뜻이 담겨있고 하나님의 뜻은 우리를 생명이 되는 유일한 길로 인도하는 것이기 때문입니다.
그렇게 보면 성막이 여호와의 명령대로 되었다는 것은 이스라엘을 생명이 되는 유일한 길로 인도함에 있어서 전혀 부족함이 없음을 뜻하는 것이고 그것이 모세가 이스라엘을 축복한 이유라고 할 수 있습니다. 그런데 만약 성막에서 생명이 되는 유일한 길을 보는 것이 아니라 제사를 지내고 제물을 바치는 인간의 열심과 정성에 초점을 둔다면 그것은 여호와의 명령에서 벗어난 것이 됩니다. 이것이 이스라엘의 악함이었습니다.
출 19:5,6절을 보면 “세계가 다 내게 속하였나니 너희가 내 말을 잘 듣고 내 언약을 지키면 너희는 모든 민족 중에서 내 소유가 되겠고 너희가 내게 대하여 제사장 나라가 되며 거룩한 백성이 되리라 너는 이 말을 이스라엘 자손에게 전할지니라”라고 말씀합니다.
이스라엘을 향한 하나님의 뜻은 그들을 제사장 나라, 거룩한 백성 되게 하는 것입니다. 그리고“내가 거기서 이스라엘 자손을 만나리니 내 영광으로 말미암아 회막이 거룩하게 될지라”(출 29:43)는 말씀을 보게 되면 성막은 이스라엘을 거룩한 백성이 되게 하기 위한 장치로 만들어졌다는 것을 알게 됩니다. 성막에 나와서 제사하고 제물을 바쳐서 거룩한 백성으로 인정되는 것이 아니라 무엇이 이스라엘을 거룩한 백성이 되게 하는가를 성막으로 증거 하고자 하시는 하나님의 의도인 것입니다.
성막에는 일반 백성이 들어갈 수 없습니다. 제사와 제물을 바치는 일에도 직접 참여할 수 없습니다. 성막에서의 모든 일은 하나님이 택하시고 부르신 제사장만 할 수 있습니다. 제사장의 봉사와 죄 없는 제물의 희생으로 거룩이 생산되고, 이스라엘은 무상으로 그 거룩에 참여하게 되는 것입니다.
따라서 성막을 통해서 이스라엘이 분명히 인식해야 했던 것은 자신들은 거룩하지 않은 부정한 존재일 뿐이라는 것입니다. 그 어떤 행함과 실천으로도 하나님의 마음을 흡족하게 할 수 없고, 거룩한 존재가 될 수 없음을 항상 자각해야 합니다. 그것을 성막이 지었음에도 그 안에 들어갈 수 없는 자신의 처지를 통해서 실감하고 확인해야 했습니다.
그렇게 보면 여호와의 명령을 따른다는 것은 인간은 무엇으로도 거룩해질 수 없고 하나님의 약속으로 오신 그리스도의 용서로 말미암아 하나님 백성이라는 관계에 있게 됨을 믿는 것을 뜻하는 것입니다. 하나님이 명령하시고 명령하신 대로 이루시는 하나님의 일하심으로 우리가 거룩의 상태에 있게 됨을 아는 것이 믿음 안에 있는 것입니다. 이것이 지금의 교회가 알고 있고 말하는 믿음과 전혀 다른 믿음의 세계입니다.
창 1:3절을 보면 “하나님이 이르시되 빛이 있으라 하시니 빛이 있었고”라고 말합니다.
“빛이 있으라”라는 말씀은 하나님의 명령입니다. 그런데 이 명령이 빛에게 하시는 것일까요? 빛이 있으라 하시니 빛이 있었다는 것은 빛이 없는 상태에서 명령하신 것이고, 하나님의 명령 자체가 능력이 되어 존재하지 않던 빛을 존재하게 한 것입니다. 즉 없는 가운데서 있게 하시는 것이 명령의 효력이라고 말할 수 있습니다.
성막 역시 본래 이스라엘에게는 없던 것입니다. 그것이 여호와의 명령대로 이스라엘 가운데 있게 된 것입니다. 하지만 단순히 성막이라는 건물이 없다가 있게 되었다는 뜻이 아니라 세상에 존재하지 않고 존재할 수도 없는 거룩한 백성이 존재하게 됨을 말합니다. 이것이 의미하는 것은 거룩한 하나님의 백성, 성도라는 존재가 우리가 자발적으로 힘써서 되는 것이 아니라 여호와의 명령이 스스로 실현됨으로써 발생하게 된다는 것입니다. 이것을 위해 성령이 오신 것이고 믿음을 선물로 주신 것이며 이것이 거룩한 성도라는 신분에 담긴 비밀입니다.
이스라엘이 성막을 통해서 알아야 했던 것은 성막이 있기 전에 행해왔던 모든 것들이 부정되는 것입니다. 성막이 없던 시절의 이스라엘은 자기들 나름의 방식으로 하나님을 섬겨왔을 것입니다. 그것이 조상 대대로 내려오는 전통이든 무엇이든 자기들 방식으로 하나님을 섬기며 하나님을 믿는 백성으로 자부한 것입니다. 하지만 성막이 존재함으로써 하나님이 받으시는 것은, 오직 성막에서 행해지는 것뿐이라는 사실이 선포된 것입니다.
그런데 이스라엘이 성막을 하나님을 섬기고 복을 받을 수 있는 새로운 통로, 수단으로 인식하고 이용한다면 성막에 담긴 하나님의 뜻을 멸시하는 것과 다르지 않습니다. 이것이 십자가를 복을 받고 구원을 받기 위한 수단과 도구로 활용하는 지금의 기독교 현실과 다르지 않은 것입니다. 십자가를 하나님의 명령대로 되어진 세상에 존재하지 않는 새로운 구원의 세계로 보지 못하는 것입니다. 이것이 성막이 있어도 하나님의 뜻이 무엇인지 알지 못하는 이스라엘과 다를 바 없는 모습인 것입니다.
출 39:1절을 보면 “그들은 여호와께서 모세에게 명령하신 대로 청색 자색 홍색 실로 성소에서 섬길 때 입을 정교한 옷을 만들고 또 아론을 위해 거룩한 옷을 만들었더라”라고 말합니다.
제사장 옷도 여호와가 명령하신 대로 만들었습니다. 옷을 만든 실 하나하나가 여호와의 명령이고 실을 꿰맨 것까지 여호와의 명령입니다. 여호와의 명령대로 제사장이 존재하는 것이고 그 제사장이 명령대로 만들어진 성막에서 일합니다. 이렇게 성막은 여호와의 명령으로 가득한 세계로 존재하는 것이고 여기에 인간의 뜻과 의도와 방식은 개입할 수 없는 것입니다.
이스라엘의 거룩은 명령으로 가득한 성막으로부터 나옵니다. 명령이 곧 능력이 되어 이스라엘을 하나님과 거룩한 관계에 있게 하는 것입니다. 이것은 하나님의 말씀이 우리에게 능력이 되는 것과 같습니다. 그래서 믿음은 말씀을 실천하는 것이 아니라 말씀이 능력이 됨을 믿는 것입니다.
말씀이 믿는 자 속에서 역사한다는 말처럼 지금도 믿는 속에 활동하면서 주님과의 관계에 있게 하는 것은 말씀입니다. 따라서 신자는 말씀이 역사하는 현실을 살아가는 것이기 때문에 자기 믿음에 대해 염려하지 않아도 됩니다. 말씀이 능력이 되어 실현됨으로써 죽음의 존재인 우리가 생명의 길에 있게 된 것으로 날마다 기뻐하고 감사하는 것이 하나님의 뜻입니다.

According To The Command
According to all that the LORD commanded Moses, so the children of Israel made all the work.
And Moses did look upon all the work, and, behold, they had done it as the LORD had commanded, even so had they done it: and Moses blessed them. (Exodus: 38:42-43 KJV)

The tabernacle was built by the mind of God, not that of man. If it were made by the needs of Israel, both the structure and outlook, and the purpose and reason of making it would have been totally different from the tabernacle of God. It would be a temple, which is no different from a foreign religion creating a temple and enshrining its own gods there and seeking blessing and prosperity. In the end, it is the incompetence and limitations of human beings that no one can go to the true path of faith unless God comes forward and leads them to the path of faith.
God's command to make the tabernacle is not irrelevant to such human beings. Because there is no possibility that humans will understand God's will and will voluntarily change into the people God wants, the tabernacle is for God to make new human beings new that God wants and to be with them and walk with them.
If God is with man, it means that that man is being holy because he cannot be with God without being holy. So, it can be said that the tabernacle was made for human holiness. It means that humans who cannot come to God because they are filthy by sin and cannot be with God will be sanctified by the blood of a sacrifice that goes to the path of death without sin at the tabernacle and will be with them.
As it is said in Verses 42 and 43, “According to all that the LORD commanded Moses, so the children of Israel made all the work. And Moses did look upon all the work, and, behold, they had done it as the LORD had commanded, even so had they done it: and Moses blessed them”, the tabernacle was built according to the command of God.
One thing to watch out for about God’s commands is that we ought not to take them as to do-list, meaning it is not that we understand we merely do what God says. It is because there is the will of God in His commands, the only way to lead us to the life.
In that way, the fact that the tabernacle was made according to God’s command means that there is no shortage in leading Israel to the only way to life, and that is why Moses blessed Israel. If, however, the focus is not on seeing the only way to life at the tabernacle, but on the zeal and devotion of human beings who offer sacrifices, it is a departure from Jehovah's command. This was Israel's wickedness.
Exodus 19:5,6 says, "Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people: for all the earth is mine: And ye shall be unto me a kingdom of priests, and an holy nation. These are the words which thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel.”
God's will for Israel is to make them a kingdom of priests, a holy people. And when you see the words, “I will meet the children of Israel there, and the tent of meeting will be sanctified through my glory” (Exodus 29:43), you will know that the tabernacle was made as a device to make Israel a holy people. God wanted to proclaim what makes Israel holy through the tabernacle. Their holiness is not of what they do in the tabernacle.
General people cannot enter the tabernacle. They cannot directly participate in sacrifices and offerings. All things in the tabernacle can only be done by a priest who is chosen and called by God. Through the service of the priest and the sacrifice of sinless sacrifice, holiness is produced, and Israel participates in it free of charge.
Therefore, what Israel had to recognize through the tabernacle was that they were nothing but unholy and unclean. We must always be aware that we cannot satisfy God's heart with any deeds and actions, and that we cannot become holy beings. Even though the tabernacle was built, they had to realize and confirm it through their situation where they could not enter it.
In that way, following the command of Jehovah means believing that humans cannot be sanctified by anything, but through the forgiveness of Christ, who came through God's promise, will be in a relationship with God's people. It is in faith to know that we will be in a state of holiness by God's work to do what God has commanded. This is a world of faith that is completely different from what the church knows and speaks of today.
In Genesis 1:3, it says, "God said, "Let there be light, and there was light."
“Let there be light” is a command from God. But is this command to the light? He said to have light, and that there was light was commanded in the absence of light, and God's command itself became power and made the light that did not exist. In other words, it can be said that to be in the midst of nothing is the effect of the command.
The tabernacle was also originally not in Israel. It came to be in Israel as commanded by God. However, it does not simply mean that there is no building called the Tabernacle, but it means that a holy people that does not exist and cannot exist in the world exist. What this means is that the beings of the holy people of God, saints, do not come from our voluntary efforts, but from the fulfillment of God’s commands. For this, the Holy Spirit came, and faith was given as a gift, and this is the mystery of the status of a holy believer.
What Israel needed to know through the tabernacle is that everything that had been done before the tabernacle was denied. Israel in the days without the tabernacle would have served God in their own way. Whether it is a tradition that has been passed down from generation to generation, they are proud of themselves as a people who believe in God and serve God in their own way. However, the existence of the tabernacle has proclaimed that God receives only what is done in the tabernacle.
However, if Israel recognizes and uses the tabernacle as a new channel and means to serve God and receive blessings, it is no different from despising God's will contained in the tabernacle. This is no different from the present Christian reality, in which the cross is used as a means and tool for receiving blessings and salvation. The cross cannot be viewed as a new world of salvation that does not exist in the world that has been ordered by God. This is no different from Israel, who does not know what God's will is even with the tabernacle.
In Exodus 39:1, it says, "They made elaborate clothes for serving in the sanctuary with blue, purple and scarlet thread, as the LORD commanded Moses, and they made holy clothes for Aaron."
The priestly clothes were also made according to God’s command. Each and every thread that makes the garment is the command of God, and even the stitching of the thread is the command of God. According to God’s command, a priest exists, and that priest works at the tabernacle made according to the command. In this way, the tabernacle exists as a world full of God’s commands, and human will, intention, and manner cannot intervene.
The holiness of Israel comes from the tabernacle full of commands. The command becomes power, putting Israel in a holy relationship with God. It is like God's Word becomes our power. So, faith is not about practicing the Word, but believing that the Word becomes power.
Like saying that the Word works in the believer, it is the Word that keeps us in a relationship with the Lord while still working in the believer. Therefore, believers do not have to worry about their beliefs because they are living in the reality of the word working. It is God's will to rejoice and be grateful every day that the Word becomes power and comes true, so that we, as beings of death, are on the path of life!
