2.네 귀를 지혜에 기울이며 네 마음을 명철에 두며
3.지식을 불러 구하며 명철을 얻으려고 소리를 높이며
4.은을 구하는 것 같이 그것을 구하며 감추어진 보배를 찾는 것 같이 그것을 찾으면
5.여호와 경외하기를 깨달으며 하나님을 알게 되리니
6.대저 여호와는 지혜를 주시며 지식과 명철을 그 입에서 내심이며
7.그는 정직한 자를 위하여 완전한 지혜를 예비하시며 행실이 온전한 자에게 방패가 되시나니
8.대저 그는 정의의 길을 보호하시며 그의 성도들의 길을 보전하려 하심이니라
9.그런즉 네가 공의와 정의와 정직 곧 모든 선한 길을 깨달을 것이라

사람의 지식으로 말씀의 의미를 깨닫는 것은 애초에 불가능합니다. 왜냐하면 사람은 항상 자신에게 의미와 가치를 두고 시작하지만 말씀은 예수 그리스도께 모든 가치와 의미를 두고 있기 때문입니다. 자신에게 의미와 가치를 두고 말씀을 보게 되면 말씀 하나하나를 자기를 이롭게 하는 내용으로 보게 됩니다. 그리스도를 보게 되는 것이 아니라 하나님을 기쁘게 하는 믿음 좋은 자신을 상상합니다. 그래서 인간이 성경을 보는 것은 결국 자기로부터 시작하여 자기에게로 돌아가는 것에서 벗어날 수 없습니다.
이러한 인간은 말씀을 듣는다고 해도 깨달을 수 없고 보여준다 해도 보고 알 수가 없습니다. 그런데 본문을 보면“내 아들아 네가 만일 나의 말을 받으며 나의 계명을 네게 간직하며 네 귀를 지혜에 기울이며 네 마음을 명철에 두며 지식을 불러 구하며 명철을 얻으려고 소리를 높이며 은을 구하는 것 같이 그것을 구하며 감추어진 보배를 찾는 것 같이 그것을 찾으면”(1-4절)라고 말합니다.
사람들은 이러한 말씀을 보게 되면 쉽게‘하나님의 지혜의 말씀에 귀를 기울입시다’‘마음을 명철에 둡시다’‘지식과 명철을 구하는 기도를 합시다’라고 말합니다. 하지만 이것이 들어도 깨달을 수 없고 보고도 알 수 없는 인간의 무지와 어리석음을 간과한 망상일 뿐입니다. 왜냐하면 지혜에 귀를 기울이는 자에게 지혜를 듣게 한다고 해도 하나님의 지혜임을 알 수 없고 깨달을 수도 없기 때문입니다. 애당초 지혜를 모른 자가 지혜에 귀를 기울이는 것이 말이 되지 않습니다. 지혜가 무엇인가를 알아야 지혜에 귀를 기울이는 것이 성립되기 때문입니다.
여러분이 하나님께 지식을 구하고 하나님이 주셨다고 생각해 보십시오. 하나님이 주신 지식으로 인해 감사할 자가 누구겠습니까? 지식이 무엇인가를 알고, 지식이 은과 보배처럼 존귀하다는 것을 아는 사람입니다. 지식을 모른다면 주신다고 해도 받았다는 사실 자체도 알 수 없는 것입니다.
마 7:7-8절에 보면“구하라 그리하면 너희에게 주실 것이요 찾으라 그리하면 찾아낼 것이요 문을 두드리라 그리하면 너희에게 열릴 것이니 구하는 이마다 받을 것이요 찾는 이는 찾아낼 것이요 두드리는 이에게는 열릴 것이니라”라고 말씀합니다.
이것을 하나님께 열심히 구하고 찾고 두드리면 하나님이 주신다는 것으로 해석하지만 그것이 인간으로 시작하여 인간으로 마치는 해석입니다. 하나같이 인간을 위한 성경으로 조작하여 미련한 자가 미련한 자들을 거짓말로 속이는 말만 가득합니다. 교회가 성경이 아닌 거짓말에 기뻐하고 감격하고 은혜받았다고 좋아하는 것입니다.
예수님은 거룩한 것을 개에게 주지 말며 진주를 돼지 앞에 던지지 말라고 하십니다(마 7:6). 개와 돼지는 거룩한 것, 진주의 가치를 모릅니다. 먹고 마시는 것을 자기 즐거움으로 삼고 있는 개와 돼지에게 거룩한 것과 진주는 쓸모없는 것입니다. 그렇다면 하나님이 개와 돼지에게 하늘의 좋은 것을 주신다 해도 쓸모없는 것으로 취급받을 뿐입니다. 이것이 무엇이 좋은 것인가를 알지 못하는 인간의 상태입니다.
마태복음에서는 하늘에 계신 아버지께서 구하는 자에게 좋은 것으로 주신다고 하고, 누가복음에서는 좋은 것을 성령으로 말합니다. 이것은 성령을 받기 위해서 하나님께 구하라는 뜻이 아니라 인간은 하나님께 좋은 것을 구할 수 없는 존재임을 말하는 것입니다. 왜냐하면 인간은 무엇이 좋은지를 모르는 어리석고 미련한 자이기 때문입니다.
이처럼 어리석은 자에게 지혜는 영을 부어주며 지혜의 책망을 듣고 돌이키게 하겠다고 합니다(잠 1:23). 이런 지혜의 일이 어리석음을 좋아하는 어리석은 자에게 구원이 되는 것입니다. 쉽게 말하면 그리스도의 영이 오심으로 해서 바울의 말처럼 그리스도를 아는 지식이 가장 고상하다는 것을 알게 되고 기존의 좋아하고 기뻐했던 것들이 미워지는 현상이 있게 되는 것이고 그것이 구원의 현장으로 드러나는 것입니다.
신자는 지혜에 귀를 기울이고 마음을 명철에 두라는 말씀 앞에서 지혜와 명철을 싫어하는 것이 우리의 본성임을 알게 됩니다. 그것이 신자가 주의 영으로 인해 알게 되는 자신의 실체입니다. 그래서 말씀에 귀를 기울이고 구하는 것도 나의 힘으로 할 수 없음을 알고 성령이 오지 않으면 결국 어리석음을 좋아하면서 멸망에 이를 자로 보게 되는 것이 정직한 것입니다. 이러한 정직도 성령이 오시고 책망을 받으므로 나타난다는 것을 생각하면 하나님이 주신다는 좋은 것이 성령이라는 것을 부인할 수 없을 것입니다.
7,8절을 보면“그는 정직한 자를 위하여 완전한 지혜를 예비하시며 행실이 온전한 자에게 방패가 되시나니 대저 그는 정의의 길을 보호하시며 그의 성도들의 길을 보전하려 하심이니라”라고 말합니다.
정의의 길은 하나님의 의만이 유일한 의로움으로 증거되는 것을 말합니다. 우리가 의를 행하여 하나님의 의를 증거 하는 것이 아니라 하늘의 의로 오시고 의를 이루신 예수님의 십자가가 구원의 의로 증거되는 것이 정의의 길입니다. 이 길에 있는 것이 예수 안에 부름을 받은 신자라면 신자에게 정의는 십자가의 의를 믿는 것이 됩니다. 따로 정의를 행할 것이 없다는 것입니다.
따라서 성도의 길은 예수님만이 의가 되심을 믿는 것입니다. 그래서 성령은 우리를 위해서가 아니라 정의의 길을 보호하시고 성도들의 길을 보전하기 위해서 오신 것입니다. 성령이 오심으로 능력을 받아서 내가 믿음 좋은 존재로 부각 되는 것은 없습니다. 그것은 믿음 좋은 자신의 가치를 지키려는 어리석은 인간의 노력일 뿐입니다.
하지만 그의 길은“그러므로 자기 행위의 열매를 먹으며 자기 꾀에 배부르리라 어리석은 자의 퇴보는 자기를 죽이며 미련한 자의 안일은 자기를 멸망시키려니와”(잠 1:31-32)라는 말처럼 자기를 죽이고 멸망시키는 것으로 끝날 것입니다.
신자는 지혜의 영이 오심으로 새롭게 만들어진 다른 존재입니다. 신자의 새로움은 듣고도 깨닫지 못한 것을 깨닫게 되고 보고도 알지 못한 것을 알게 되는 것으로 나타납니다. 그것이 자신이 어리석음을 좋아하는 어리석은 자였으며 말씀을 듣고 말씀에 귀를 기울였다고 생각했던 것이 모두 착각이었음을 알게 되는 것입니다.
성도의 길은 기존의 내가 부인되고 생명이신 그리스도의 의가 함께 하는 길입니다. 따라서 성도의 길에‘믿음 좋은 나’는 필요치 않습니다. 다만 믿음 없는 저주의 존재에게 베풀어진 예수님의 은혜만 품고 있는 새로운 피조물로 창조된 신자가 있을 뿐입니다. 그들은 자신을 새롭게 하신 그리스도의 의가 전파되는 것을 기쁨으로 삼는 사람들입니다.
Chapter 6
The Way Of His Saints
My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee;
So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding;
Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding;
If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures;
Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God.
For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.
He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous: he is a buckler to them that walk uprightly.
He keepeth the paths of judgment, and preserveth the way of his saints.
Then shalt thou understand righteousness, and judgment, and equity; yea, every good path. (Proverbs 2:1-9 KJV)

It is impossible in the first place to realize the meaning of the Word with human knowledge because man always begins with meaning and value in himself, but the Word puts all value and meaning in Jesus Christ. When he sees the Word with meaning and value to himself, he sees each word as something that benefits him. Instead of seeing Christ, we imagine ourselves having a good faith that pleases God. Thus, in the end, when we read the Bible, we cannot escape from starting from ourselves and returning to ourselves.
Even if such people like us hear the Word, they cannot understand it, and even if they see it, they cannot find and understand it. Yet, the passage of today reads, “My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee; So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding; Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding; If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures;” (verses 1-4).
When people see these verses, they easily say, ‘Let’s listen to God’s wisdom’, ‘set our hearts on understanding’, ‘let’s pray for knowledge and understanding’. However, this is just a delusion that overlooks the ignorance and folly of human beings, which cannot be understood by hearing or seeing because even if you listen to the wisdom from the Wise, you cannot know and understand whether it is the wisdom of God or not. It makes no sense for a person who did not know wisdom to listen to wisdom in the first place. This is because listening to wisdom is established only when you know what wisdom is.
Imagine that you ask God for knowledge and God has given it to you. Who will be grateful for the knowledge God has given us? He who knows what knowledge is, and who knows that knowledge is as precious as silver and precious stones. If he does not know knowledge, even if God gives it, he does not know the fact that he has received it.
Matthew 7:7-8 says, “Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.”
This is interpreted as that if you earnestly ask God, seek and knock, then God will give you. They are all made up of the Bible for humans and are full of words that fools deceive fools with lies. Churchgoers rejoice and are moved by lies, not the Bible, and rejoice that they have received grace.
Jesus says not to give holy things to dogs and not to throw pearls before pigs (Matthew 7:6). Dogs and pigs do not know the value of a holy thing, a pearl. To dogs and pigs who make eating and drinking their pleasure, holy things and pearls are useless. Then, even if God gives good things from heaven to dogs and pigs, they will only be treated as useless. This is the human condition of not knowing what is good.
In Matthew, the Father in heaven gives good things to those who ask, and in Luke, good things are spoken of by the Holy Spirit. This does not mean that we should ask God to receive the Holy Spirit, but it is saying that human beings cannot ask for good things from God because human beings are foolish who do not know what is good.
Wisdom pours out the Spirit on fools, and they hear the rebuke of wisdom and turn back (Proverbs 1:23). Such works of wisdom are the salvation of fools who love foolishness. In other words, as the Spirit of Christ comes, we know that the knowledge of Christ is the noblest, as Paul said, and we hate the things we liked and delighted in.
As believers, we learn that it is our nature to hate wisdom and understanding in front of the saying that we should listen to wisdom and set our hearts on understanding. That is the reality that the believer is known by the Spirit of the Lord. Therefore, it is honest to know that listening to the Word and asking for it cannot be done in our own strength, and that if the Holy Spirit does not come, we will eventually enjoy foolishness and see ourselves as a person who will lead to destruction. Considering that such honesty is also revealed by the coming of the Holy Spirit and being rebuked, we cannot deny that the good thing God gives is the Holy Spirit.
Verses 7 and 8 say, “He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous: he is a buckler to them that walk uprightly. He keepeth the paths of judgment, and preserveth the way of his saints.”
The path of justice means that the righteousness of God is the only evidence of righteousness. The way of justice is not that we do justice to testify of God's righteousness, but that the cross of Jesus, who came as a heavenly righteousness and accomplished righteousness, is evidenced as the righteousness of salvation. If what is on this road is a believer who is called in Jesus, justice for the believer is believing in the righteousness of the cross. There is nothing else to do with justice.
Therefore, the way of the saints is to believe that only Jesus Christ is righteous. Thus, the Holy Spirit came not for us, but to protect the way of justice and preserve the way of the saints. There is nothing that I receive power through the coming of the Holy Spirit and that I stand out as a good believer. It is just a foolish human effort to protect the value of having good faith.
Yet, his way will end with destruction as Proverbs 1:31-32 says, “Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices. For the turning away of the simple shall slay them, and the prosperity of fools shall destroy them.”
The believer is another being created anew by the coming of the Spirit of Wisdom. The newness of the believer is manifested in the fact that he comes to realize things he couldn’t realize before and understand things he couldn’t understand before even with seeing. That is how he finds out that he was a fool who likes foolishness and that everything he thought he had heard and listened to the Word of God was a mistake.
The path of the saints is the path where the existing self is denied and the righteousness of Christ, who is life, is together. Therefore, there is no need for a 'me with good faith’ on the path of the saints. There is only a believer who is created as a new creature that only embraces the grace of Jesus Christ bestowed upon the cursed beings without faith. Believers are those who rejoice in the preaching of the righteousness of Christ, who has made them a new creature!
